H1N1 - What to do if...

MY CHILD HAS A HIGH TEMPERATURE ONLY

  1. The Children's Academy will require your child to be taken home. Whilst your child is at home, parents must watch for any H1N1 symptoms that develop. If two or more appear, then the child must be taken to the doctor for advice.
  2. If the child has not been in contact with a H1N1 sufferer AND shows no symptoms AND no other household member has H1N1 symptoms, then the child may return to school if his or her temperature has remained continuously below 37.8 for at least 24 hours after ceasing to use Panadol or other temperature-reducing medication.
  3. If you know that the child HAS been in contact with a H1N1 case OR if a household member has symptoms then you must inform the school and take the child to the doctor for advice.

If your child is diagnosed with H1N1

The child may return to school once a doctor has provided a Medical Certificate to show that the child has recovered from H1N1 and is fit for school. The Medical Certificate must be given to the Headmaster on return to school.

If your child has a temperature and the doctor confirms that the child does NOT have H1N1 AND no other household member has symptoms of H1N1

The child may return to school once a doctor has provided a Medical Certificate to show that the child is free from H1N1 and is fit for school. The Medical Certificate must be given to the Headmaster on return to school.

If your doctor confirms your child does NOT have H1N1 but a household member IS suffering from H1N1

The child (if they are free of symptoms) may return to school on the sixth day after the household member has been diagnosed as a sufferer. The child will require medical clearance and the Medical Certificate must be given to the Headmaster on return to school.

YOUR CHILD HAS A HIGH TEMPERATURE AND TWO OR MORE H1N1 SYMPTOMS

The Children's Academy will require the child to be taken home. The parents must arrange for the child to be taken to the nearest doctor.
